Long Beach, CA has close to 81 miles of beaches and each of these is a unique place to enjoy yourself. Long Beach beaches are protected by breakwater making them ideal for those who cannot swim. Activities like windsurfing, kayaking, fishing and kiteboarding can also be carried out here. Apart from water sports, you can also just lye back and soak in the sun or take a leisurely walk. Ocean front beaches in this city are south facing and heading west will take you to the Port of Long Beach.

Alamitos Beach: Located on Long Beach’s top bay

Alamitos Beach is located close to downtown Long Beach hotels and convention center. There is a bike path from the Shoreline Village and Rainbow Harbor. This bay is also lined with other beaches.  This sandy beach is towards the southern part of Ocean Boulevard. This beach has a volleyball court and Alfredo’s Beach club as well as restaurants in Shoreline village offer beach visitors a bit to eat. This beach is also good for fishing and biking.

Junipero Beach-  Sandy beach

This is a section of Alamitos Beach in Long Beach CA which stretches from Junipero Avenue to belmont Veterans Memorial Pier. Beach is around 30-40 feet below the bluff with stair access about every other block or area. Swimming, fishing and biking are some of the activities you can engage in here.

Belmont Shore Beach:  Set of many small beachfronts

This sandy beach stretches from Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier to Long Beach Peninsular region. It has a restaurant nearby. Bike path is there as is a volleyball court. There are benches on the beach where you can sit and relax. Fishing and biking are some of the activities you can engage in here. This beach comprises smaller beach fronts such as Granada’s beach, Peninsula Beach and Rosie’s Dog Beach.

Peninsula Bayside- Bayshore Beach

Long Beach Peninsula comprises the Peninsular Bayside Beach/East Bayshore Beach. This is a stretch of sand separated from the Bayshore Walk.

Mothers Beach-  Family friendly beach

This is part of the Marine Park in NE neighborhood of Naples Island and it has a playground as well as a bridge on the island at the Appian Way alongside the Marine Stadium. This beach has a shallow swimming area and a spot where canoeing is a rage.  This is also the best beach to watch the yearly Naples Christmas Boat Parade.

Marine Stadium Beach- Perfect beach near a park

Located at the Marine Park is the Marine Stadium which is a long stretch of water used for boat races and rowing competitions. This beach is ideal for boating, paddling or kayaking and canoeing.
